2 Dead and 10+ Missing in Himachal Pradesh Cloudburst

The leader of the state, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, checked on how things are going through video calls with officials.

He told everyone in charge to stay alert all the time and be ready to help people quickly. He also asked them to find families, especially workers who moved from other places, who might be living close to rivers or dangerous spots, and to move them to safer places to keep them safe.

A lot of heavy rain caused dangerous weather in Himachal Pradesh over the past day. Because of this, five people lost their lives in different accidents like sudden rainstorms called cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides.

Some people are still missing—three in one area called Kullu and about six in another area called Kangra. Rescue teams are working very hard to find and help anyone in danger. They have already saved 21 people from flooded or unsafe places.

Rescue workers say that the rainstorms caused a lot of damage in different valleys and rivers, washing away sheds and damaging bridges. One important bridge in Manikaran, built by villagers, was completely broken by the floodwaters, making it hard for people to travel.

Many homes in the Brahmaganga area of Manikaran had water and debris come inside, so families had to leave their houses to stay safe. In another place called Thural in Kangra, a heavy rainstorm caused floods in the market area, making it difficult for people to walk or work. In a tribal area called Udaipur in Lahaul, the heavy rain caused more flooding and problems for the people living there.

In the Kullu district, there were at least four sudden rainstorms called cloudbursts in areas like Banjar, Gadsa, Manikaran, and Sainj. In some parts of Kullu, three people went missing after these storms, and two or three houses were destroyed by the floodwaters. The water levels in many places, including Manali, have gone up. Rescue teams and emergency workers are helping people and trying to find the missing persons.

They have also told people to stop doing water activities like boating until it is safe again. According to officials, in Kangra, two people were found dead, and rescue teams are trying to find others who were swept away by the rushing water.

These victims worked at a small hydroelectric power station near Dharamshala. The authorities are asking the company that hired the workers to give a list of everyone who was there. Some people lost their lives, and more than twelve are missing after sudden heavy rainstorms caused dangerous floods in different parts of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

Two bodies have been found so far, and at least 10 people are still missing in Kangra district. In Kullu district, three people and several houses were washed away by the floods. The weather office has warned that there will be heavy rain in many areas for the next day, which could cause more flooding and problems.
