Disturbing Video Raises Alarm
Bollywood actress and former Miss India Tanushree Dutta released a deeply emotional video on July 22, 2025, in which she tearfully alleged that she has been harassed inside her own home for years. In the video, she is visibly distressed, crying, and pleading for help. She says, “I’m not well, please help me,” and claims that she is being disturbed “every single day.”
Claims of Constant Harassment
Dutta explained that she has been experiencing loud banging noises on her door and ceiling regularly since 2020. She described these disturbances as a form of psychological harassment meant to torment her over a long period. She also said that people she hired for domestic help have behaved suspiciously — suggesting that maids were “planted” in her home to either steal, spy, or further disturb her.
Due to this ongoing fear and distrust, Dutta says she now avoids hiring help and does all the household chores herself. The stress and isolation, she claims, have severely affected her health. She has reportedly developed chronic fatigue syndrome and finds it increasingly hard to cope both physically and emotionally.
Police Respond to Video
After the video went viral, officers from the Oshiwara Police Station in Mumbai visited Dutta’s Andheri residence. The police confirmed they had been contacted by Dutta and offered to help her file a formal complaint (FIR). They even offered to send a female officer to her home, understanding that she might not be in a condition to visit the station due to her poor health.
Dutta confirmed that she plans to file the FIR soon but emphasized how her deteriorating health and mental state have made even basic tasks difficult. She thanked the police for their initial support but made it clear that the situation has been unbearable for years.
Link to Her #MeToo Battle
In her video and subsequent statements, Dutta drew a clear connection between her current ordeal and her role in India’s #MeToo movement. Back in 2018, she had accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment — a bold move that made national headlines and led to significant backlash within the industry.
She believes that her whistleblowing may be linked to the retaliation and psychological harassment she claims to be enduring now. Though her original case did not lead to criminal charges, Dutta has often said that she has been “silenced” and “punished” in subtle but damaging ways ever since.
Public Reactions and Support
The video has sparked a wave of concern on social media. Many are voicing support for Dutta, calling on authorities and industry leaders to step in. Some are comparing her emotional state to other tragic figures, like Sushant Singh Rajput, and stressing the importance of mental health awareness.
Supporters have used hashtags like #JusticeForTanushree and #BelieveSurvivors, urging people not to ignore her plea. Activists and mental health professionals have also stepped forward to highlight the need for immediate intervention and support for women facing similar situations.
