The Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), also known as Provident Fund (PF), is a retirement savings scheme managed by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) in India. Employees and employers both contribute to the fund, which grows over time and can be withdrawn upon retirement or under certain conditions. Keeping track of your PF balance is essential for financial planning. Here are the different ways to check your PF balance:
1. Using the EPFO Portal
Visit the official EPFO website (https://www.epfindia.gov.in). Go to “Our Services” > “For Employees” > “Member Passbook.” Log in using your Universal Account Number (UAN) and password. You can then view and download your passbook, which shows your monthly contributions and total balance.
2. Through the UMANG App
Download the UMANG app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Register with your mobile number and select “EPFO” from the services. Choose “Employee Centric Services” and log in with your UAN to view your PF passbook and other services.
3. By Sending an SMS
Send an SMS in the format: EPFOHO UAN ENG to 7738299899. Replace “ENG” with your preferred language code. Make sure your UAN is linked with your Aadhaar, PAN, and bank account.
4. Missed Call Service
Give a missed call to 9966044425 from your registered mobile number. You’ll receive an SMS with your PF details.
5. Through Your Employer
Some companies provide access to PF details via their internal HR portal. You can also contact your HR department directly.
Regularly checking your PF balance ensures that your employer is depositing contributions timely and helps you plan better for your future financial goals.
