Tesla is expected to deliver its first cars in India from August 1

For now, only the Model Y will be sold. Later, in 2025, they might sell the cheaper Model 3 too. The Model 3 will be shown in the store but not sold yet.

But in India, after taxes, it might cost over ₹60 lakh (which is a lot of money). Yes, because India makes things more difficult for imported cars by adding extra taxes. This means a Tesla that costs about $69,770 in America might cost around $56,000 in India — which is more money.

That’s because of the big taxes, about 70%, that the government adds when bringing cars from other countries. Right now, Tesla plans to sell only one kind of car in India — called the Model Y. They have already shipped six of these cars from China to India so people can see and try them.

The first Teslas will be given to people starting August 1. Elon Musk, who is a very rich man and makes cool cars called Teslas, is opening his first store in India today.

It’s in a fancy area called Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai, inside a big shopping mall. The new Tesla store in India is a big moment because many people have been waiting a long time to see and buy these cool electric cars.
