X (Twitter) Changes Block Functionality
X (formerly known as Twitter) has introduced a new update to its block feature. Under the revised policy, blocked users will still be able to view public posts. However, they will be restricted from interacting with those posts in any way, such as liking, commenting, or reposting. This change means that even if you block someone, they can still see your tweets, but their ability to engage with them will be limited.
Viewing Posts Without Interaction
Elon Musk, the owner of X, clarified that while blocked users are now able to see public posts, they will not be able to participate in public discussions or interact with those posts. This adjustment represents a notable change in the platform’s blocking policy. Users who are blocked will encounter a message saying, “You are blocked,” if they attempt to view the profile of the person who blocked them. In addition to preventing interaction, the block function also restricts access to replies, media, followers, and the following list of the user who applied the block.
Musk’s Stance on the Block Feature
Musk has been vocal about his dislike for the block feature, even before this update. Last year, he questioned the value of the block button, stating that it “doesn’t make sense.” This latest change aligns with his previous comments, as the block function now only limits interaction but does not prevent blocked users from viewing content. Musk announced this update via his official X account, further highlighting his intent to reshape the platform.
X’s Continued Evolution
Since Musk took over X, the platform has undergone several changes. His latest move is part of a broader vision to transform X into a more dynamic platform, incorporating features found in apps like WhatsApp and Instagram. With many similar features already introduced, more updates are expected in the future as Musk continues to evolve X’s functionality and user experience.
These changes signal Musk’s commitment to driving innovation within X and his intention to make the platform more versatile for its users.
