The International, also called TI, is the biggest and most special tournament for the game Dota 2. It started in 2011 and has given us many exciting moments, famous teams, and huge prize money.
From Natus Vincere’s first win to Team Spirit’s third win at TI15, here is a list of all the winners of every Dota 2 International. Na’Vi was the first team to win TI, in Germany. Led by stars Dendi and Puppey, they beat EHOME and won $1 million.
Chinese team Invictus Gaming won TI2 in Seattle, beating Na’Vi. This made China known as a strong Dota team. Alliance had a famous final game against Na’Vi. They played a special strategy called “Rat Dota” and won in five games, making this final very special. Newbee won TI4, the first esports event with over $10 million in prize money. They beat Vici Gaming and won more than $5 million. Wings Gaming surprised everyone with their bold and brave style. They beat Digital Chaos and won over $9 million.
Team Liquid won easily, beating Newbee 3-0 in the final. Famous players included Miracle-, MATUMBAMAN, and KuroKy. OG made history by winning two years in a row. First, they won TI8, then they won again at TI9, becoming the first team to keep the Aegis trophy twice. Team Spirit surprised everyone by beating PSG.LGD in the final.
The prize pool was a huge $40 million. Tundra Esports won their first TI by beating Team Secret 3-0 in the final. Team Spirit won again, beating Gaimin Gladiators, and became a very strong Dota team with two wins.
Team Liquid beat Gaimin Gladiators without losing any playoff games. 33 became a second-time winner. Team Falcons won a close final against Xtreme Gaming in five games. Skiter and Sneyking won their second Aegis. Team Spirit made history at TI15 by beating TEAM VISION in five games. With this win, they became the first team to win TI three times. Yatoro and Collapse were important players.
