Delhi’s Shocking Fuel Ban: Is Your Old Vehicle Affected?

Delhi's Shocking Fuel Ban: Is Your Old Vehicle Affected?

Here’s what you need to know: Cars that are more than 15 years old with petrol engines, or more than 10 years old with diesel engines, will not be allowed to get fuel at petrol stations anymore. To make sure everyone follows this rule, cameras and speakers have been put at the fuel stations so they can watch and listen.

Starting from today, July 1, 2025, petrol stations in Delhi will stop giving fuel to old cars that are near the end of their life. This rule is made to help keep the air clean and healthy. The rules also say that all petrol stations must keep a record of any old cars they refuse fuel to, either on paper or on a computer.

They must also put up signs saying that old cars are not allowed to get fuel starting from July 1. The staff at the fuel stations will be trained to follow these rules and help make sure no one gets fuel for cars that are too old.

This step is part of a big plan to make Delhi’s air cleaner and healthier for everyone. This change is being made to reduce the pollution in Delhi, which makes the air dirty and hard to breathe.

Police and traffic helpers will be at the fuel stations to check cars and stop old, worn-out vehicles from refueling. If someone tries to get fuel for an old car, the police will take the car and give a fine (a penalty).
