From Courtroom to Vice President: Dhankhar’s Salman Connection”

Even though Jagdeep Dhankhar was not involved in the later parts of the case, his quick and smart help at the beginning was very important. His actions helped Salman get out of jail the first time, which was a big moment in the story.

Later, Jagdeep Dhankhar became the Vice President of India, and people sometimes remembered his early help in Salman’s case as an example of how clever and helpful he can be. At that time, a smart lawyer named Jagdeep Dhankhar stepped in to help Salman and some of his friends who were also accused.

Jagdeep went to court right after Salman was arrested. He spoke to the judge and asked for Salman to be allowed to go home while waiting for the case to be decided. This is called getting bail, and it meant Salman didn’t have to stay in jail for a long time. Right after this happened, the local community that loves animals, called the Bishnoi community, filed a complaint with the police. Salman was arrested, which means he was taken to jail. Many people were watching and talking about what was happening.

Even though Salman got out of jail early, the case went on for many years—more than 20 years! Salman had to go to court many times, and sometimes he was found guilty and had to go to jail again. In 2018, a court said Salman was guilty and sentenced him to five years in jail. But he was out on bail again after a few days.

A long time ago, in 1998, famous Bollywood actor Salman Khan was in trouble with the law. He was filming a movie near a place called Jodhpur in India, and people accused him of hunting and killing two special animals called blackbucks. These animals are very rare and protected by law, so hurting them is against the rules.

Jagdeep Dhankhar was calm and careful when talking to the court. He asked questions and explained that there wasn’t enough proof to say Salman did something wrong. Because of him, the court agreed to let Salman go home until the case was finished.
