Gautam Gambhir is the new head coach of KKR

IPL, one of the biggest formats of cricket, ended a few weeks ago. Chennai Super Kings won the trophy for the record fifth time under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders are seen in trouble as they have first lost captain Shreyas Iyer, while some players were sidelined with injuries. KKR are far from successful after Gambhir departs from the team. Far from winning the cup, KKR struggled to make it to the playoffs.

Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, the main players of KKR were quiet. However, a big breaking news is coming up. Next year, former captain Gautam Gambhir is going to join the team. Former Indian opener batsman Gautam Gambhir was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders for a huge sum in 2011. Since then Gambhir has represented KKR in IPL from 2011 to 2017. Under his leadership, Kolkata Knight Riders won two titles (2012 & 2014).

Gambhir played his last IPL season with the Delhi team. Also, spent 2 years as a mentor with IPL newcomers Lucknow Super Giants. Now the big news is coming that the former Knight star will be seen returning to his home again. He could join the Knights’ coaching staff, according to multiple reports. According to sources, whether Gambhir will be seen as a coach or mentor of the Kolkata team from the upcoming IPL season depends entirely on him and Lucknow team owner Sanjeev Goenka. He will join the Kolkata camp only if Goenka release him from the LSG camp.

Gautam Gambhir Scored 4218 runs in 154 matches in IPL with 36 fifties at an average of 31.01. However, some sources claimed that Gambhir is not returning to Kolkata. Next year he will also be seen mentoring the Lucknow team. Team owner Sanjeev Goenka does not want to release an experienced player like Gambhir from the team. Lucknow could replace Andy Flower and appoint Justin Langer as their head coach.
