The Indian football team is going to participate in the Kings Cup 2023 before the Asian Games 2023. The team will be without captain Sunil Chhetri in this tournament. The head coach of the Indian football team Igor Stimac was worried about the team. Today he announced the 23-man national squad for the King’s Cup.
This year the 49th King’s Cup is going to be held in Thailand from September 7. India, Lebanon and Iraq along with host country Thailand are set to participate in the tournament this year. On September 7, India, ranked 99th in the FIFA rankings, will take on Iraq, ranked 70th in the FIFA rankings, at the Chiang Mai stadium in Thailand. The final of this tournament will be played on September 10 at the same stadium.
India last participated in the King’s Cup in 2019. India won bronze that year. Today Indian football team head coach Igor Stimac announced the 23-member national squad for the King’s Cup. Sunil Chhetri is not participating in this tournament due to personal reasons. He requested the officials earlier as the King’s Cup dates were close to the delivery date of his first child.
