BCCI prepares a group of players for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Ajit Agarkar’s first India squad selection was for the 5 T20Is against West Indies and he excluded both Sharma and Kohli. Recently the team selection details are not being shared and BCCI is not holding any press conference as it used to do earlier. There was a question-and-answer session, which has completely stopped. This selection is surprising for every cricket fan.
BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar is going to the Caribbean during India vs West Indies series. He will sit in discussion with Indian team coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma. This discussion is to outline the One Day World Cup 2023. Along with that, Dravid-Agarkar can decide on the future of captain Rohit and ex-captain Virat Kohli in T20 cricket. Agarkar will go there before the start of the white-ball series. He doesn’t want to delay any longer. One-day World Cup will start on the country’s soil from October 5.
He wants to make his decision from now on. According to the board sources, the selectors want to make a team of 20 people before the World Cup. After that 15 or 16 people will be selected from there. How the cricketers are doing right now, and how much rest they need before the World Cup will be discussed. The entire coaching staff, including Dravid, has already been rested for India’s tour of Ireland. VVS Laxman will be the coach against Ireland.
The future of pacer Jasprit Bumrah is to be discussed. The names of two more injured Indian cricketers Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant will also appear there. Another important topic that can be discussed is Rohit and Virat’s T20 future. They have not been seen in the Indian team in the short format since the T20 World Cup last year. Hardik Pandya is leading the series one after the other. Hardik is also the captain of the T20 series against West Indies. All the young cricketers in the Indian team were sent to the Asian Games. Rohit and Kohli may be told to focus only on Tests and one-day cricket. Hardik can be made the permanent captain of the T20 format.
