Manchester City won 4th Trophy of the year

Manchester City brought home another title at the beginning of the season. Youssef En-Nesyri’s goal gave Sevilla the lead in the 25th minute of the match on Wednesday night in Athens, Greece. Then Manchester City equalized with Cole Palmer’s goal in the 63rd minute. After a 1-1 draw, the game went into extra time. However, no team could score the winning goal even in those 30 minutes. And that’s how the title was decided in a tiebreaker. City won there 5-4.

City hit all five of their shots in the tiebreaker. On the other hand, Sevilla hit all the first four shots in the net, but the last shot was a setback. City defeated Sevilla when Nemanja Gudelj’s shot hit the post. Pep Guardiola’s team won the Super Cup for the first time in the history of Manchester City. Haaland, Julián Alvarez, Kovacic, Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker scored in five shots for City in the penalty shootout. On the other hand, Lucas Ocampos, Rafa Mir, Ivan Rakitic and Gonzalo Montiel all found the net in Sevilla’s first four shots.

At the beginning of the new season, this one-match title fight is between the winners of the previous Champions League and Europa League. Man City won the trophy by participating here for the first time. It was City’s fourth title this year after winning the treble last season. As a coach, Guardiola participated in the Super Cup four times and won the title each time. The Spanish mastermind won the trophy as coach of Barcelona in 2009 and 2011 and was in charge of Bayern Munich in 2013.

A few days ago, City lost to Arsenal in a tiebreaker in the Community Shield, but this time they tasted victory. Sevilla won the title for one time and became the runner-up six times.
