The same rules as before are used. There will be 27 series and 71 matches in total over two years. Each team will play in six series, and every game gives points.
At the end, the two teams with the best scores will reach the final, based on their overall percentage of points—not just how many matches they won, but how well they played all the time. The fourth WTC will happen from June 2025 to mid-2027. Nine countries that play Test cricket, like India, England, Australia, and Pakistan, are competing to win.
Teams are ranked by how many points they earn out of the total possible, and they lose one point if they are slow to finish their games. The journey to find out who will be the best cricket team in the world for the next big match, called the World Test Championship (WTC) 2027, has started! After South Africa won their first WTC trophy in the last contest (2023–25), teams are now preparing for the next two years of playing special long cricket games, called Test matches, to try to reach the final again. Other teams like Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and the West Indies haven’t played yet or haven’t scored points. Each of these countries will play six big matches called Test series—three at home and three away. The teams will try to win early games to get ahead.
