Sri Lanka’s captain ruled out of the World Cup

The biggest cricket tournament of the year, World Cup 2023 is going on in India. Despite performing well as usual in the first two matches, Sri Lanka had to face defeat. Sri Lanka lost both matches against South Africa and Pakistan. Meanwhile, before the third match, there was sad news for the Sri Lankan fans. Which can break the expectations of fans of winning the World Cup.

Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka has been dropped from the current World Cup. Which is another big blow for Sri Lanka. Wanindu Hasaranga, Dusmanth Chameera and Lahiru Kumara could not make it to the World Cup team due to injuries. After playing the first two matches of the World Cup, the leader of the team injured his right thigh and lost his place in the World Cup.

Shanaka, the Sri Lankan captain, sustained an injury on his right thigh while playing a second match against Pakistan in Hyderabad on October 10. According to sources, it will take at least three weeks or more for him to recover from this injury. By that time, the league games of the World Cup will almost end. So the Sri Lankan Cricket Board does not want to apply any pressure on Shanaka. Chamika Karunaratne got a chance to join the Sri Lanka team instead of Shanaka.
