On July 17th, the IIT campus at Simrol, Indore, received a threatening email. The email, sent from the address sumit2813xyz@gmail.com, targeted the PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya located on the IIT campus. The message warned of a bomb blast scheduled for August 15th. The sender claimed to be an agent of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Police Response and Investigation
The arrival of the email prompted immediate action. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and other officers rushed to the scene, and a cyber team was brought in to assist with the investigation. The police conducted a meticulous 16-day probe, which ultimately led them to Chetan Soni, a resident of Badnagar, Ujjain. He was arrested in Indore.

During interrogation, Chetan Soni revealed the motive behind his actions. In 2022, he had applied for a job at IIT Indore but was rejected. This rejection sparked intense anger and frustration in him. Consumed by rage, he decided to instill fear by threatening to bomb the campus.
