What You Need to Know About Video Calls on X

X (formerly Twitter) is gearing up to challenge established platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams by introducing its own video conferencing tools. This move is part of a broader strategy by Elon Musk to transform X into a comprehensive social media platform, rivaling not only traditional social networks like Facebook and WhatsApp but also specialized services like LinkedIn for job listings and PayPal for payments. Now, the platform aims to compete with video conferencing giants such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.

Video conferencing tool will be available on X

Recent reports indicate that X is actively testing a video conferencing tool. Chris Park, an X employee, shared this development on the platform, revealing that the company recently conducted its first internal conference using the new tool. According to Park, the initial feedback from the team was overwhelmingly positive. He also mentioned that the company plans to enhance the tool with features like speaker pinning and improved notifications to inform participants when someone joins or leaves a conference.

Elon Musk’s reaction

Elon Musk, the owner of X, reacted to Park’s post with a fire emoji, signaling his enthusiasm and potentially hinting at an imminent official announcement regarding the tool’s rollout. This reaction has fueled speculation that X may soon introduce this feature to its wider user base.

In addition to these developments, an app researcher has noted that users may soon be able to create new meetings directly from the iOS app without the need to schedule them in advance. This would make the platform even more versatile and user-friendly.

While these new features are still in the testing phase, they represent a significant step toward X’s goal of becoming an all-in-one platform. However, there is currently no official information on when the video conferencing tool will be available to the general public. As X continues to expand its capabilities, it is poised to become a more formidable competitor in the digital landscape.
