The honour of football’s most prestigious individual award ‘Ballon d’Or went to Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. He won his first career Ballon d’Or on Monday, October 17, becoming the second oldest player to win the award at age 34.
Benzema has a magical 2021/22 season in which his team Real Madrid won both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League and he finished as the top scorer in both competitions. He also won the UEFA Nations League with France. He scored 44 goals for Real Madrid and another 6 goals for France in the 2021/22 season.
