Gautam Gambhir’s toxic incident in the current Asia Cup, India vs. Pakistan match is not unknown to anyone. During the match against Pakistan, the game was stopped several times due to rain. Gambhir was seen to be rude to the fans. A video has also gone viral on social media.
Fans were cheering for Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni after seeing Gautam Gambhir on the field. Gambhir was busy on the phone at the time when he was seen showing his middle finger towards the fans in the stands. Gambhir’s toxic behaviour was not well received by cricket fans worldwide. People claim that an ideal cricketer can never do such a thing.
As the discussion on the issue heated up on social media, the former Indian cricketer explained in the press conference in Kandy, “There is no truth in what is shown on social media because what people want to see is shown. The truth of the viral video is that if you raise anti-India slogans and talk about Kashmir, the person in front of you will react and not laugh. There were 2 to 3 Pakistan fans who were talking about Kashmir against India. So, that was my natural reaction. I cannot hear anything against my country. So, that was my response.”
