Karwa Chauth 2024: When will the moon be visible in your city

Karwa Chauth 2024: Festival Details and Moonrise Timings in Major Cities

The month of Kwar will conclude with Tula Sankranti on October 17, followed by the first major festival of Kartik month—Karwa Chauth. If you plan to observe the Karwa Chauth fast this year, here’s when the moon will rise in your city.

Variations in Moonrise Times

According to astrologer Pandit Anil Pandey, there is a slight variation in the timing of sunrise, sunset, and moonrise across different cities. Below are the moonrise timings for Karwa Chauth in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.

Karwa Chauth Puja Rituals

For those observing the Karwa Chauth fast, here’s the proper fasting method, as explained by astrologer Pandit Anil Pandey:

Start your day early by bathing and wearing clean clothes.

Make a vow to fast and seek blessings from your elders.

Prepare for the evening puja by decorating the Karva with items like turmeric, sandalwood, and colored rice if it’s made of brass or copper.

Arrange the puja thali and prepare dishes based on your family’s customs.

In the evening, worship Maa Karva and listen to the Karwa Chauth story at the auspicious time.

When the moon rises, offer arghya to the moon, view it through a sieve with a burning diya, and then see your husband’s face through the same sieve.

Break your fast by drinking water from your husband’s hands and seek blessings from elders.

Finally, offer the Karva to your mother-in-law or any married woman and touch their feet.
