Malaysia makes history at the Asian Games by winning its very first gold medal in esports thanks to a racing driver named Taj Izrin Aiman Taj Madira. He competed in a game called Gran Turismo 7 at the event held in Aichi-Nagoya in 2026.
Taj Izrin did an amazing job and finished first in the competition, earning Malaysia’s first-ever gold medal in esports. During the race, he started strong, coming in second in the first two races and earning 16 points. In the last race, he performed really well and got 20 more points, which put him at the top of the leaderboard with 36 points overall.
This win is a big step for Malaysia in esports, building on medals they won in 2022 at the Asian Games, where they got silver and bronze medals in other video game competitions. On the same day, Malaysia also won medals in other sports.
Adeola Fay Robert won a gold medal in karate by beating her opponent from Iran. Malaysia also got four bronze medals in sports called wushu and karate, with athletes named Tan Cheong Min, K. Thebendran, and Sureya Sankar earning those medals.
