He almost broke the record for the most runs ever scored in one game, which was 400 by a player named Brian Lara.
Mulder didn’t reach that, but he did break some other records. He became the first captain in history to score a triple hundred (that means over 300 runs in one turn) and was only the seventh player ever to score over 350 runs in a game.
So, Mulder’s big effort was very special, even though he didn’t break the all-time record! A new cricket team captain from South Africa named Wiaan Mulder was trying to set a world record in a game called Test cricket.
During a match against Zimbabwe, he scored more than 350 runs, which is a very high score. He passed a famous player named Gary Sobers who scored 365 runs before.
Mulder kept going and scored 367 runs, but then he decided to stop and end his turn. He also broke a record for the most runs scored in an away game (when playing in someone else’s country), beating a record held by Hanif Mohammed.
