YouTube’s New Rules for Teen Livestreaming

YouTube’s New Rules for Teen Livestreaming

Earlier this year, Roblox also made new rules to keep kids safe, like stopping children under 13 from joining certain games that aren’t rated for them or from hanging out in places that might not be safe.

These changes might make it harder for some young kids who want to go live without their parents watching, but it’s also a way for YouTube to keep kids safer online.

The new rules are only about live videos, so kids can still upload videos they recorded earlier without any new age limits.

Google is changing its rules about who can go live and share videos on YouTube. Starting from July 22, you have to be at least 16 years old to stream live videos by yourself. Right now, kids who are 13 and older can go live on YouTube and Twitch without needing someone else to be with them.

But with the new rules, kids aged 13 to 15 can still appear on live videos, but only if an adult is with them on camera.

If they don’t have an adult with them, their live chat (where viewers can send messages) will be turned off, and they might lose the ability to go live or use some other features for a little while.
