Delhi Metro has introduced a new feature called the Multiple Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT) service, enabling passengers to use their smartphones as metro cards. The process is simple and convenient.
With this feature, users no longer need to carry a physical metro card or book individual tickets for each journey. Instead, the QR-based ticket allows for multiple trips using a smartphone. Previously, passengers had to purchase separate tickets for every ride, but now, with the MJQRT system, daily ticket booking is no longer necessary. This innovation aims to simplify metro travel.
How the MJQRT System Works
The MJQRT system allows passengers to book tickets for multiple journeys through the Delhi Metro Sarathi (Momentum 2.0) app. This feature, available starting September 13, can be accessed via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
To use this service, commuters must register on the app and maintain an initial balance of ₹150, which can be used for travel. There’s no additional security fee required for MJQRT, and users can recharge easily via UPI, credit, or debit cards, with a maximum balance limit of ₹3,000.
Ticket Discounts and Benefits
MJQRT users can also enjoy several benefits, including discounted fares. A minimum balance of ₹60 is required to travel, and passengers can receive discounts during different times of the day. A 10% discount is available during peak hours (8 AM to 12 PM and 5 PM to 9 PM), while off-peak hours offer a discount of up to 20%.
