Microsoft has rolled out an important update as part of its June 2025 Patch Tuesday, addressing a total of 67 security vulnerabilities across its software products. This update is crucial because it fixes multiple weaknesses that hackers can exploit to compromise systems. Among these, 11 are classified as critical, meaning they could allow attackers to take control of affected devices, and 56 are considered important, which could still pose serious risks if left unpatched.
Two of the fixed vulnerabilities were zero-day flaws, which are security holes actively being exploited by cybercriminals before developers had a chance to release patches. One significant zero-day issue, identified as CVE-2025-33053, affects the WebDAV (Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning) protocol. This flaw has been used in live attacks, making it a priority for Microsoft to patch.
In addition to WebDAV, this vulnerability also impacts the Windows SMB (Server Message Block) client, a core networking protocol used for sharing files, printers, and communication between computers on a network. Because SMB is widely used in enterprise environments, this bug could potentially allow hackers to gain unauthorized access to sensitive systems if not addressed quickly.
If users or organizations do not install this latest update, they remain vulnerable to attacks that can lead to data theft, ransomware infections, or complete system takeover. Hackers often take advantage of such flaws to sneak into networks, install malicious software, steal confidential information, or disrupt business operations.
Given the severity of the vulnerabilities fixed in this patch, it is highly recommended that all Windows users download and install the latest stable version as soon as possible. The update is available in version 137.0.3296.62.
