A Historic Shift: Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony Takes to the Water in 2024

The Paris Olympics are starting soon and it’s a big deal because France is hosting the Games for the third time. This time, the Olympics will kick off on a river instead of in a stadium, which has never happened before. At the opening ceremony, over 200 athletes will ride on boats through the city of Paris on the Seine river, and lots of people will be there to watch. It’s going to be a really special and historic event!The entire city of Paris will be like a huge sports arena for the Olympics. We can’t wait to see what other exciting things will happen during the opening ceremony!The athletes will ride on boats starting at a bridge called Pont d’Austerlitz. The boats will travel 6 kilometers on the Seine river, passing 18 bridges and famous landmarks in the city before reaching Pont d’Aléana near the Eiffel Tower. About 80-100 boats will be in the parade, with athletes from 206 countries.A special place called Champions Park has been built near the Eiffel Tower for the big speeches at the beginning and end of the Olympics. French President Emmanuel Macron will announce the start of the games there.

The Paris Olympics are going to have a big show to start and end the games. Lots of artists will perform, and they will use famous places in Paris as their stage. Thomas Jolly, a famous actor and director, is in charge of planning the show.The Paris Olympics opening ceremony will be watched by a total of 326,000 spectators. 222,000 people will receive free tickets to watch from the upper banks of the Seine river, while the rest will have to pay between 90 and 2700 euros to watch from the lower quays. Additionally, there will be 8 big screens set up around the city for even more people to watch the ceremony.
