The Asia Cup 2023 was supposed to be held in Pakistan, and there were questions regarding whether the Indian cricket team would travel to the neighbour country to participate in the tournament. While some reports said that the Men in Blue were ready to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023.
India won’t travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023 confirms Jay Shah
Bcci Secretary Jay Shah ruled out the possibility of the Indian cricket team visiting Pakistan for the 50-over Asia Cup next year, saying that they had decided to hold the tournament at a neutral venue.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said, “Neutral venue for the Asia Cup is not unprecedented, and we have decided that we will not travel to Pakistan.”
ACC President/BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also said, “It’s the government that decides over the permission of our team visiting Pakistan, so we won’t comment on that but for the 2023 Asia Cup, it is decided that the tournament will be held at a neutral venue.”
Pakistan and India have not played men’s cricket against each other apart from multi-team international events in any format since their last Test match was played in December 2007.
India’s next match against Pakistan is in their opening game of the T20 World Cup 2022 on October 23 (Sunday) at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.
